Liberty & Justice for Migrant Families at Carrizo Springs

The Trump administration is jailing migrant children — and it must stop!

Thank You for Your Support!

Almost 300 concerned citizens (from native Texans to activists from New York and Chicago) joined the Children’s Defense Fund-Texas, Texas Organizing Project, and Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas for a moral call to action outside the Trump administration’s new Carrizo Springs child detention center on July 3, 2019.

On June 6 news broke that the Trump administration planned to detain more than 1,600 children at a site just 12 miles from the former Crystal City internment camp where the U.S. government imprisoned over 4,700 people during WWII.

The administration has proven time and again that it is unwilling to meet even the most basic needs of families and unaccompanied children in detention. Children at this detention camp will not receive education, recreation or legal aid services, according to the administration’s policies.

We cannot allow this to continue on our watch. Thank you to everyone that attended and supported the protest for standing with us and giving a voice to the voiceless. You can view the full live stream of the event on our Facebook page. See more photos of the Community Art Installation attendees decorated and left messages for the detained children here.
